Where will you Glo?

Have you spent the last two years daydreaming of escaping to a European summer, cruising the streets of LA, laying by the pool in Fiji? I know we have!
It’s been an incredibly long two years of border closures, which makes the Australian borders reopening on the 21st Feb as exciting as Christmas Day!
After such a long hiatus between flights – we thought it might be a good time for a refresher on travel tips to get you from A to B feeling fresh and ready to hit the ground running. We’ve pulled together some of our favourite tips and tricks when jetting off on a domestic or international flight, all you have to do is pack your bags!
- Skincare: pack multi-tasking products! It’s fine to have a bathroom cabinet full of all the variations in serums/oils/creams, but not so ideal for a suitcase. We recommend packing products that can serve more than one purpose – whether it’s an SPF tinted moisturiser, cleansing toner that doubles as a hydrating facial mist, or an exfoliating cleanser, try to knock out several steps of your skincare routine with a single product.
- Travel sizes are your best friends. We all know the dreaded feeling of going through security and a product in your carry on sets off the alarm for being over the liquid allowances! Especially if it’s a brand new premium moisturiser (speaking from experience here – it still hurts my soul!) For international flights, the liquid/gel/cream limit is 100ml and aerosols are prohibited. If you have a 150ml product but it’s almost empty, unfortunately this still counts as over the limit! We recommend purchasing a set of empty 100ml bottles, and transferring products you want to holiday with you into the travel size bottles. Just remember all liquids/gels/creams need to be in a clear zip lock bag when in your carry on.
- Mask up on the plane. As well as wearing a medical grade face mask as protection from COVID-19 – pack a sheet face mask in your carry on to wear prior to landing from a long haul. After 12 hours of re-circulated air conditioning it’s common for your skin to be dry, itchy, and dehydrated. Step off the plane feeling fresh and hydrated by popping on a sheet mask about 1hr prior to landing to give your skin a boost of moisture. Have a spare in your suitcase for the day after travel as the drying effects last a few days.
- Check your carry on. A reality of travel is that things rarely go to plan, and things get lost – including baggage! Pack your carry on wisely with items that will last you a few days in case your suitcase doesn’t make it onto the plane with you. We recommend a change of clothes and undies, essential toiletries (eg. toothbrush and toothpaste, non-aerosol deodorant, facial cleanser/moisteriser, non-aerosol dry shampoo – Ready Sweat Glo is 100ml so perfect for international travel), and a phone charger.
- Care from within. The best part about being on holidays is you’re away from your normal daily grind, trying and experiencing new things. This however, often means a change in your diet, sleep patterns, and daily skincare routine. Our top tip is to start your holiday glow from the inside by taking care of your hydration and nutrition. We recommend taking an empty water bottle through airport security and filling it up to drink water regularly while you’re on the plane, limit alcohol and soft drinks when flying, pre-pack nutritious snacks, keep moving by walking around/gently stretching every 1-2 hours on the flight.
